Tasline X4 is our 4-strand finesse fishing braid, engineered for casting distance, accuracy and sensitivity. Its four-carrier construction is designed to reduce wind knots while delivering precise, long-distance casts, making X4 an ideal choice for light lures and finesse fishing.

The larger individual strands provide excellent durability when fishing around reef, rock and timber, while the self-lubricating ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibre runs smoothly through the guides for quiet, efficient casting.

4-Strand Finesse Braid Built for Precision Casting and Toughness

Tasline Elite X4 is a 4-strand braided fishing line designed for finesse fishing, precision casting and durability around structure. Its four-carrier construction provides a slightly firmer handling characteristic than our finer 8-strand braid, helping to reduce tangles when casting lightweight lures from spinning reels while maintaining excellent casting distance and accuracy.

Made from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibre with no coatings or additives, X4 provides consistent handling, high tensile strength and dependable abrasion resistance. The larger individual carriers give the braid a tough, durable construction suited to fishing around weed, snags, reef, rock and other abrasive structure.

X4 is particularly well suited to ultralight and light lure fishing, where accurate lure placement, casting distance and sensitivity matter. Its combination of a firmer profile and durable four-strand construction makes it a practical choice when finesse tackle needs to be fished close to cover.

Like all Tasline braid, X4 is manufactured in-house in tightly controlled micro batches. Every spool is individually numbered and tensile tested, with its corresponding test data available through the Tasline website. This allows you to see the measured performance of your individual spool rather than relying solely on nominal line ratings.

X4 is not a cheaper X8. It's the casting specialist. The four-carrier construction throws fewer wind knots and puts more accuracy and more distance in every cast, while the heavier strands still shrug off contact with reef, rock and timber. The Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibre is self-lubricating, so the line runs smoother through the guides and casts further. Same fibre, same testing standard as the rest of the range. Available in 4lb and 6lb classes.

Is X4 just a cheaper X8?

No, it's a different tool. X4's four-carrier build is better for casting: fewer wind knots, more accuracy and more distance. The heavier strands also wear hard around structure.

What's the best knot for X4?

FG for leader connections; uni-to-uni also beds down well on the heavier weave. Both are covered in the knot guides. These can be found in our resources page

What classes does X4 come in?

4lb and 6lb, both on 150m spools. The 6lb runs PE 0.4 at 0.100mm with a 10.8lb average tested break. For heavier classes, look at X8 Solid (8–100lb).
